History

In 1898, Charles Henry Page and his brother Louis Page formed Page Brother, Architects and focused on designing courthouses and public schools. Charles's son, Charles Henry Page Jr., joined the firm following Louis's death in 1934. A year later, Louis's son, Louis Charles Page Jr., partnered with his college roommate, Louis Southerland, to form the Austin-based firm Page and Southerland. Louis's brother, George Page, would join the firm in 1939 and the name changed to Page Southerland Page. The firm changed its name to just Page in 2013.

In 2022, Page bought the architectural and planning firm, EYP, merging the former Albany-based company's national offices and design portfolio. In 2023, Page acquired Davis Brody Bond, a former New York City-based architecture firm with notable projects including the National September 11 Memorial & Museum, the Portico Gallery at the Frick Collection, and the National Museum of African American History and Culture.

As of 2024, Page operated 21 offices in the US, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates.

Challenges
Page needed to find a solution to work together more efficiently. With projects that can have an extensive employee team and up to a hundred external consultants located in multiple cities, Page had files spread across various systems and locations, making finding, sharing, and collaborating on files extremely challenging.

Solution
Now, Page’s plan is to take all the content (that is contractually permissible) off their file servers and move it to Egnyte. To date, they have entirely transitioned their Marketing content to the platform and are now focusing on Accounting, Human Resources, and IT. 3 Ways Egnyte Helps AEC Firms Tap Into the Public Cloud 

Construction of the campus began in September 2019, and work was completed in late 2021. Public spaces have been raised to the fourth floor making the campus specific to conventional office buildings.
The building is shaped by stacking - vertical arranging of different functions on top of each other: a parking lot on the ground floor, three floors of office spaces, a public floor with a restaurant and a conference room, and three floors with accommodation units. 

An important feature of this project is the pioneering application of the VOLUM3 platform for the cooperation of all participants in design, construction and site supervision phases.  
Every day, 139 users joined the platform and by creating (and completing) more than 1700 individual tasks, they generated more than 200 meeting reports. More than 1200 drafts were made and their delivery, alongside complete documentation, was submitted through VOLUM3. 
Thanks to VOLUM3's modules, better overview of activities, faster and better decision-making process, the completion of tasks on time, and detailed reporting were provided. This increased the overall satisfaction of all project stakeholders and reduced the risk of failure.

The Challenge: Increased Data Required for Design of More Resilient Structures

An increasing number of Aurecon’s clients are following lessons learned from the Canterbury Earthquakes. They are requesting resilient structures in order to facilitate post-earthquake operations of their businesses.

In response, Aurecon designs buildings that employ the most effective known seismic mitigation technologies such as sliding hinge joints for low damage connections and Ringfeder friction springs that cushion seismic vibrations. These technologies allow a building to move during a seismic event with a minimum amount of damage to the building’s structural and architectural elements.

Data Grows in Volume and Complexity

Aurecon Sliding Hinge JointClinton Maulder, Associate – Buildings, Aurecon has needed a way to get data from an engineering spreadsheet into the Revit model without having to transfer it over manually. In one project, just one of many elements, sliding hinge joints – nine or 10 different ones – had to be tabulated. Standard detail tables had to be compiled. Engineering loads needed to be input into piling schedules; plate, bolt, and pre-stressing configurations for Ringfeder connections needed to be tabulated.

Conclusion

In addition to using Ideate BIMLink for this seismic work, it has also recently been implemented to coordinate sheet and drafting information across (65) emergency response service departments, with the work being done by Aurecon’s engineers at three different New Zealand locations. Here's a few interesting notes from a transcription of our latest Bi-Weekly Rendair Webinars -  

"Once you've signed up, you'll be able to access the text to render tool, which is the most basic tool that is accessible for free. You can test it out. We have some videos that are available on YouTube. But generally to create and instantly access the platform and start making amazing renderings, you want to use either Create, Edit, Upscale or Video. Within each of these, you'll notice a different set of tools, each of which you can attenuate with different metrics. So we'll go one by one. Create is where we generally start. Text to render is the most basic.  So here, these take about 15 to 30 seconds to generate. you can type in pretty much anything. I can say tiny home on a hill, blue facade white flowers in the garden, right?"

"For anything that's text to render only, I suggest getting as lengthy as you want with the description of the scene. The reason being you're not providing design input or some kind of other direction for the Ai to follow. So you can really get as creative and as detailed as you want here in the description of the scene.  Otherwise, the moment we start introducing designs and then adding text to it, there can be certain prompts that conflict with the design. So, you want to make sure that it all lines up and it makes sense." 

"The creativity bar directly impacts the text in the description of the scene. So, if my creativity is really high, this image is going to be really busy."

"Let's take a look at some examples of elevation to render, If you have these sort of speckled details, they're going to show up in the render,  So depending on your use case and what you're trying to do, in this case, our client was looking for a white tile fireplace with white walls on the sides and they wanted this centerpiece to be walnut. I was able to make that happen using a few different tools, but I ended up finding even though I was working on an elevation, and this is an interesting note, sketch to render was able to make some pretty good results for me too. Here are some examples of Elevation-to-Render and Sketch-To-Render... Ultimately, I ended up taking the best final render to select and modify via the edit tools in order to put the image together."

"Here we have a really nice exterior of an office building. The sketch was pretty rough, so it's a little bit low quality. I'll make another note here. the quality of your output will be, Generally speaking. And before I move on to the edit module, I'm going to take a moment to let you guys ask any questions into the chat a few things that I'd like to point out about create. Anything that we make here is going to change and affect every pixel in the image within the create module."

"Magic variation is when you don't want any changes to the design but you want to show the project in a different light/feel. By decreasing the image strength to 1%,  I gave the AI freedom to veer away from the original design. I asked it to follow it by providing the design input but I gave it full freedom to go away as far as it wanted. Otherwise in this case you'll notice the design is far more close to the original input. I can click here on copy inputs to verify and you'll see that the image strength is up there at 100%.  Right? Creativity by the way still only impacts for all the tools the description of the scene. So in this case elevation to render has the first component. We're attenuating the image strength to suggest whether or not we want the AI to closely follow the input design. We're then further directing the image with the description of the scene which you can pull up keywords here at any point in time which are very influential."

"And the third component is if we want to add a reference image, we can also add a reference image. The reference image doesn't necessarily have to The reference image can also be something like this. In which case, if I use this 100% is going to really overpower. So let's say I start with just under 50%. This will take into account the description of the scene, and If I feel the reference strength isn't showing enough, then I'll just increase here. And if I feel that it's overpowering, I'll decrease it here. Generally, the reference strength makes a huge impact. Okay, here's another quick elevation to render example. A little kiosk, and we'll take a look at those ones that we just made. Okay, while those are loading up, I'll move on to sketch to render."

"Sketch to render might be the most flexible tool out out of all of them. It can do complex, it can do simple, it can do 2D, it can do 3D, it can literally do anything. So, tch If I go here, filtering by tools. yeah, it's impressive what Sketch render can do. Let's take a look here.  So, this can be super basic. It can be like a sketch on a napkin and with some direction from the AI on the text, you can get some pretty impressive results. It can also process really complex artwork like a MC Escher sketch and try to make something realistic out of it. But otherwise, just about anything you throw at it, it's going to do really incredible work."
