RoofSolar Overview
RoofSolar is a financial-grade solar analysis tool that turns any rooftop into a fully modelled investment decision — available worldwide, free, with no sign-up required.
Most online solar calculators give a single payback number with no supporting logic. RoofSolar is built differently: it runs a complete 25-year discounted cashflow model for a user's specific address, using live PVGIS irradiance data pulled directly from the European Commission's Photovoltaic Geographical Information System. The result is a rigorous financial output that includes IRR (internal rate of return), payback period, net present value, cumulative savings, export-tariff earnings, battery storage economics, and EV charging savings — all calculated from real solar irradiance figures, not generic regional averages.
The tool was built by a project-finance modeller who spent years structuring solar transactions at the institutional level. The frustration of watching homeowners sign 20-year solar loans on the back of a one-line 'you'll save X per month' promise was the direct motivation. RoofSolar applies the same DCF discipline used in commercial solar project finance to the residential rooftop market.
Key features include: address-based irradiance lookup using live PVGIS data, 25-year cashflow projection, IRR and payback calculation, battery storage and EV charging economics, export tariff modelling, country-specific pricing and incentive inputs, and a Pro PDF export (€3.99 one-off) that produces a document suitable for sharing with a solar installer or financial adviser.
The free analysis covers the complete core product. The Pro tier unlocks a formatted PDF export with all assumptions and cashflow tables visible — giving users a document they can hand to an installer, a bank, or an accountant rather than a screenshot from a marketing page.
RoofSolar is part of the Asadov Stack, a portfolio of financial-rigour web tools built by CFA charterholder and FMWC-ranked financial modeller Samir Asadov. The tool is hosted at roofsolars.netlify.app and is updated regularly as PVGIS data and country-specific tariff rules evolve.
