Cookie Policy

Last Updated: 15th August, 2025

This Cookie Policy explains how aec+tech, inc ("aec+tech," "we," "us," or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on www.aecplustech.com (the "Site"). It works together with our Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions. Capitalized terms not defined here have the meanings given in those documents.

1. What are cookies and similar technologies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device to store data that can be retrieved by a web server in the domain that placed the cookie. We also use pixels/web beacons, local storage, and software development kits (SDKs) (collectively, "cookies") for similar purposes.
Cookies may be first‑party (set by us) or third‑party (set by others, e.g., analytics or advertising partners). They may be session cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or persistent cookies (remain until they expire or you delete them).

2. Why we use cookies
We use cookies to:
2.1. Make the Site work better for you (e.g., load pages, keep you signed in, remember preferences, prevent fraud and abuse);
2.2. Measure performance and improve the Site (e.g., understand which pages are visited and how features are used);
2.3. Personalize your experience (e.g., remember your settings or show relevant content);
2.4. Support our marketplace (e.g., understand engagement with product pages, including Featured Partner pages);
2.5. Facilitate marketing (e.g., measure the effectiveness of campaigns, where permitted by law).

3. Categories of cookies we use
3.1. Strictly Necessary (Essential): Required to operate the Site and provide core functions such as page navigation, security, authentication, session management, load balancing, and form submission. These cookies are always active and do not store information that directly identifies a visitor for marketing purposes.
3.2. Performance & Analytics: Help us understand how the Site is used (e.g., page views, time on page, clicks, referral URLs, device and browser information). We may aggregate this data; for Registered Users, some analytics may be associated with your account so we can understand engagement with the Site’s features, including Featured Partner pages, and improve your experience.
3.3. Functionality: Enable enhanced features and personalization (e.g., remembering choices such as region, language, or saved comparisons).
3.4. Advertising & Social Media: .Enable us and our partners to deliver or measure ads, build audiences, and analyze the effectiveness of outreach. These technologies may track activity across websites and over time to infer interests. Where required by law, these cookies operate only with your consent.
3.5. Security & Fraud Prevention: Help detect, prevent, and investigate malicious or unusual activity and maintain the integrity of our services.

4.  Featured Partners and engagement analytics
When a Registered User visits certain product pages belonging to our Featured Partners, we may associate that visit with the user’s account details (e.g., name, job title, company, email) and make that engagement information available to the relevant Featured Partner to support their lead generation and marketing, as described in our Privacy Policy. You may opt out of that specific sharing in your account settings or by contacting us (see Your Choices below). Opting out may limit certain Site functionality.

5. Your choices and controls
5.1. Consent & Preferences:
5.1.1. Cookie banner / preferences tool. Where available, you can set preferences by category (and, in some regions, by vendor) using the cookie banner or the “Cookie Settings” link in the Site footer.
5.1.2. Withdraw or change consent. You can update your selections at any time via the preferences tool. Changes take effect on a going‑forward basis.
5.2.Browser & device settings:
5.2.1. Browser controls. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings (e.g., by blocking third‑party cookies or clearing all cookies). Doing so may affect Site functionality.
5.2.2. Mobile settings. Device operating systems (iOS/Android) offer settings to limit ad tracking and reset your advertising ID.
5.3. Email pixels: You can disable images in your email client or use the unsubscribe link in our marketing emails to reduce pixel-based tracking. Account/service emails are not subject to unsubscribe.
5.4. "Do Not Track" & Global Privacy Control:
5.4.1. While many browsers offer Do Not Track (DNT), there is currently no industry standard for responding to DNT signals.
5.4.2. Where required by law, if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, we treat it as a request to opt out of certain cookie uses that may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" for cross‑context behavioral advertising.
5.5. Opting out of Featured Partner sharing: If you are a Registered User, you can opt out of having your name, job title, company, and email shared with Featured Partners when you visit their product pages by adjusting contacting us. Disabling advertising/analytics cookies alone will not necessarily disable this sharing because it may rely on account activity.

6.Legal bases for use of cookies
Where required by law (e.g., in the EEA/UK), we rely on consent for non‑essential cookies (such as advertising and some analytics). For essential cookies, we rely on legitimate interests (e.g., delivering and securing the Site) and/or contractual necessity when cookies are needed to provide requested services.

7. "Sale" / "Sharing" (California & similar laws)
Some uses of cookies for targeted advertising or cross‑context behavioral advertising may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under certain U.S. state laws (e.g., California). Where applicable, you can opt out via the cookie preferences tool, or by contacting us. We will also honor applicable browser‑based opt‑out signals (e.g., GPC) where required.

8. International transfers
We may store and process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect personal data transferred from the EEA/UK to countries without an adequacy decision.

9. Retention
Cookie lifetimes vary. We keep cookie‑derived data for as long as necessary for the purposes described above and in accordance with our data retention practices. Persistence for individual cookies appears in the banner/preference center and may change over time.

10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Policy to reflect changes in technology, law, or our practices. We will post the revised Policy with an updated "Last Updated" date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice.
