Where are my IFCs stored? For how long?

Will it open my federated 500 MB IFC?

On Pro, yes — up to 500 MB per file. The viewer streams geometry in chunks and the spatial index lives on the server, so the browser tab stays responsive even on big models.

Can I round-trip with my coordination tool?

Yes. Every output is OpenBIM (IFC, BCF 2.1, glTF, OBJ, STEP, COBie). Import a .bcfzip from any BCF-compatible tool, work on it in a room, export it back. Navisworks support comes through the open-source Navisworks → IFC plug-in.

BIMCamel Overview

BIMCamel is a collection of 40+ free online BIM tools that run in your browser. Open an IFC model, inspect it, check it, clean it, convert it, and download the result — with no installation or per-seat license required. You can start without an account, and a sample building is already loaded so you can try the tools before uploading your own model.

View and inspect. Open IFC2x3, IFC4, and IFC4.3 models in the online IFC viewer and explore model hierarchy, properties, geometry, and spatial structure. IFC4.3 is supported for viewing and a range of data-side workflows, although some geometry-processing tools are not yet fully verified for IFC4.3.

Validate and check. Run buildingSMART IDS validation, model-health audits, clash and clearance checks, fire-egress and accessibility reviews, and other model checks directly in the browser. BIMCamel’s validation tools can also export findings for coordination workflows.

Clean and optimize. Reduce IFC file size, simplify geometry, remove unnecessary data and property sets, repair model issues, strip sensitive information, and prepare models for downstream use or external sharing.

Restructure and organize. Merge IFC models, split federated models by storey, building, discipline, or property, edit property sets, transform models, manage georeferencing, and upgrade or downgrade IFC schemas.

Extract and edit data. Extract IFC data, move information between IFC and spreadsheets, create quantities and estimates, and add, edit, rename, or remove property sets.

Convert. Convert IFC models into formats including glTF, OBJ, STEP, COBie, and CAD-oriented outputs, as well as upgrade IFC2x3 models to IFC4.

Compare and coordinate. BIMCamel supports model review and coordination workflows including BCF-based issue exchange, model sharing, and revision-related workflows.

Desktop plugins. BIMCamel also offers free Navisworks add-ins for workflows that need to happen inside Autodesk Navisworks. Its Navisworks-to-IFC exporter converts NWD, NWF, and NWC files to IFC2x3 or IFC4 and works with Navisworks Manage and Simulate 2024–2026. Dyncamelo provides Dynamo-style visual programming for Navisworks 2024–2026.

Every browser tool is available across the tiers; the limits are primarily on usage and file size rather than access to individual tools. Guests receive 3 runs per day with files up to 50 MB, while a free account raises that to 10 runs per day and 100 MB uploads. Pro supports uploads up to 500 MB, and Team up to 1 GB. BIMCamel states that there is no trial clock and no watermarking on the free tools.

Files are uploaded over HTTPS and processed using BIMCamel’s browser and server-side processing infrastructure. Guest working files are deleted after processing and download; free accounts retain results for 7 days, Pro for 90 days, and Team for 180 days. BIMCamel states that uploaded files are not shared with third parties or used to train AI.
