MEPSketcher overview
MEPSketcher is a powerful, specialized desktop application for designing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) systems directly on PDF floor plan drawings. Built for MEP engineers, designers, and contractors, MEPSketcher bridges the gap between raw PDF documents and fully annotated, calculated MEP system layouts — without requiring a full-blown CAD package.
Work Directly on Your PDF Drawings
MEPSketcher allows users to open existing PDF floor plans and place MEP elements — terminals, equipment, fittings, and segments — directly on top of the drawing. No need to re-draw your floor plan or export to a separate format. Your design stays connected to the original PDF, giving you a clean, professional output that combines architectural context with MEP system design.
Complete MEP System Design
The application supports all major MEP disciplines:
• Mechanical (HVAC): Place supply diffusers, return grilles, air handling units, fans, and connect them with duct segments to model complete air distribution networks.
• Electrical: Design power distribution systems with outlets, panels, and conduit or wire routing.
• Plumbing: Model water supply and drainage systems with fixtures, pumps, pipes, and fittings.
• Fire protection: Design sprinkler distribution sprinklers, pipes, and central equipment.
Elements are organized into Networks — logically grouped, connected systems that MEPSketcher tracks and manages automatically as you design.
Automatic Flow Calculations
MEPSketcher goes beyond simple drawing. Once elements are connected into a network, the application automatically calculates flow distribution — airflow (CFM), water flow (GPM), or electrical loads (Amps) — propagating values through the network from equipment to terminals. This gives designers immediate feedback on system balance and sizing without manual calculations.
Intuitive Tools and Workflow
The application features a ribbon-based user interface with dedicated tools for creating and editing MEP elements. An interactive PDF viewer lets you pan, zoom, and click to place elements at precise locations. A built-in selection and properties panel lets you inspect and modify element properties at any time.
Save, Load, and Collaborate
MEP designs are saved alongside the original PDF in a portable project format, making it easy to revisit, and continue work across sessions.
MEPSketcher is ideal for small-to-medium MEP design tasks, site surveys, and coordination drawings — giving professionals a fast, focused tool that fits into their existing PDF-based workflows.
