Company Overview
About Skema
Led by Architects, Engineers, and Software Pioneers
We formed Skema to solve a thorny problem we've experienced firsthand: too much valuable design knowledge is lost between concept and production. Our solutions fast-forward the design process through AI-Powered Schematic Design and BIM Automation. Skema continues to advance a design platform that captures reusable design knowledge, automates repetitive work, supports better decisions, and produces consistent deliverables teams can trust.
Tackling a Decades-Long Problem
Moving from conceptual design to BIM has meant recreating work, rebuilding models, and losing design intelligence along the way.
Because Rework Is No Longer Acceptable
As project complexity and speed-to-market demands rise, leveraging proven design knowledge is becoming fundamental to how projects are delivered.
Founded in 2023
Skema's mission is to make a firm's design knowledge reusable, so every new project starts from what the firm has already proven, not from a blank page.
Investments
Skema is backed by investors from across the AEC industry.
A Team Built Without Borders
We built Skema's team around talent, not geography. We're confident we've got the best people for the job because we built a virtual team, not a local one. You'll find us in Atlanta, Boston, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Chicago, New York, and our Dev Team based in Europe.
Our Founders
Skema's founding team combines deep experience in architecture, BIM, and technology.
"Technology is transforming the industry at incredible speed. The opportunity now is to make sure that speed translates into better design, better decisions, and better projects. For building owners, that means getting buildings open sooner, making better use of their capital, and ultimately delivering more projects each year."
— Charlie Cichetti, CEO
Our Approach
Every decision we make comes back to one goal: keep design knowledge from disappearing at every handoff.
Eliminate the disconnect.
- Maintain continuity across every phase. Skema carries design intelligence forward instead of losing it at each handoff.
- Deliver a connected workflow. Skema integrates with commonly used tools under one connected system.
- Democratize complex technology. With Skema, powerful tools are within reach for everyone on the team.
Reuse design knowledge.
- Every project begins with your proven knowledge.
- Every new solution strengthens the knowledge base.
- Every design joins your library of expertise.
- Knowledge compounds instead of disappearing.
Your intellectual property, protected.
- Your designs stay yours.
- Skema never uses firm data to train models.
- Skema keeps each firm's design catalog private and separate from every other customer.
What We've Built
Skema is web-based 3D software that's a lighter way to work with Revit in the browser. As a cloud-native connected environment, there are no files or file formats to manage. It's built to integrate with the other authoring tools you already use.
With an analytic model at its core and bidirectional sync with Revit, Skema is a design and delivery platform that can handle the complexity real buildings demand: layered engineered systems, intricate spatial relationships, and large-scale project data.
Works With the Tools You Already Use
Skema acts as a "Swiss Army knife" mediator, allowing architects to work seamlessly across their favorite software without relying on heavy file exchanges. This lets parallel project teams collaborate without the coordination pain that heavy file exchange usually creates.
Integrations include
- Revit
- Rhino
- SketchUp
- Miro
- Grasshopper
- ShapeDiver
- Skema's API unlocks automation opportunities for suppliers, engineers, and owners downstream.
What the Industry Is Saying
"Skema gives us new opportunities to get more value from our BIM investments."
— Nicholas Kramer, Associate and Director of Inspire Design, LPA, Inc.
"For years I was skeptical that any tool could truly maintain coordination across shell and interiors simultaneously, without the rework that comes when you finally land in Revit. Skema's analytical model changed that. Project stays coordinated while both tracks are running in parallel. That adds incredible value to our workflows."
— Nirva Fereshetian, Principal, Chief Information Officer, CBT Architects
"Skema is the only generative solution that natively connects and works with BIM tools. The promise of saving time on repetitive tasks is a reality."
— Jim Balding, Founder, The ANT Group
"We've spent years working around the data problem Skema is solving. We believe the teams who get structured data right earlier in the design process will outperform the ones who don't."
— Grant McCullagh, Managing Director, AEC Angels
"Bringing both teams together for a focused session allowed us to connect the tools we already trust to a workflow that genuinely raises the quality of what and how we deliver solutions."
— Andrew Balster, Principal, Design Strategy Director and Experience Strategy Market Leader, Hanbury
"You can do in a day what would have taken weeks with previous methods."
— Michael Hodge
"Skema addresses a very particular and pressing industry-wide problem that hasn't been tackled head-on before, eliminating a ton of pain-points for architects."
