About Cahill Contractors

Cahill Contractors is a general contractor working across the San Francisco Bay Area, with a continuous building history stretching back to 1911. The firm describes itself as a master builder, and after more than a century it remains a family business now in its fourth generation of leadership.

The company was founded by J.R. Cahill, who had worked as an engineer in San Francisco and was moved to help rebuild the city after the 1906 earthquake. He became a self-employed engineer and contractor in 1911, initially concentrating on mining work. When his brother Edward joined the business in 1915, the partnership expanded into commercial and large residential construction, establishing the direction the firm follows today.
