This project included energy efficiency improvements for a community property in a city in Ontario. The focus was on optimizing energy use in the existing building and exploring energy-saving measures for potential new multi-family housing on the site. The objective was to assist in future capital management decisions, aligning with CMHC MLI Select energy efficiency criteria.

First, a baseline energy model was created using available data and suggesting various Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) for potential savings. The aim was to present scenarios achieving up to a 40% reduction in energy use from the existing building baseline, meeting CMHC criteria. The first scenario proposes around a 47% improvement with upgraded HVAC systems and enhanced window performance. The second scenario, focusing on a specific section built in 1920, achieved a 40% energy reduction with HVAC enhancements, window improvements, and increased roof insulation. The report also explores options for new construction, targeting compliance with NECB 2017 standards. These options demonstrate energy savings of up to 50%. 

An interactive dashboard provided by Adaptis's solution summarized existing conditions, design options, material breakdowns, waste, carbon, and cost benchmarks. Users could explore optimized options based on their priorities using this decision-support platform.

Autodesk Revit is a building information modeling (BIM) software used by architects, landscape architects, structural engineers, NEP engineers, designers, and contractors.

This Case Study showcases all 4 of our disciplines, Architecture, Structure, MEPF and Landscape in a single model at our LoD 350 standard. The model contains 3 buildings, 11 storefronts and two rail systems below. Coordinating with the MTA / LIRR was a huge learning experience for us as we continue to work in transportation projects.

Scan2Plan

Construction of the campus began in September 2019, and work was completed in late 2021. Public spaces have been raised to the fourth floor making the campus specific to conventional office buildings.
The building is shaped by stacking - vertical arranging of different functions on top of each other: a parking lot on the ground floor, three floors of office spaces, a public floor with a restaurant and a conference room, and three floors with accommodation units. 

An important feature of this project is the pioneering application of the VOLUM3 platform for the cooperation of all participants in design, construction and site supervision phases.  
Every day, 139 users joined the platform and by creating (and completing) more than 1700 individual tasks, they generated more than 200 meeting reports. More than 1200 drafts were made and their delivery, alongside complete documentation, was submitted through VOLUM3. 
Thanks to VOLUM3's modules, better overview of activities, faster and better decision-making process, the completion of tasks on time, and detailed reporting were provided. This increased the overall satisfaction of all project stakeholders and reduced the risk of failure.
