DFM Systems combines the specialist services required in the production of Project Handover Documentation with the latest computer technology, to provide building owners and managers with a single point repository for the vast amount of information, drawings etc. needed to operate and maintain today’s modern buildings.

DFM Systems can produce O&M manuals electronically or in paper copy. The company has over 10 years experience and employs engineers, qualified in technical writing, to ensure that all project documentation is complete and handed over to clients satisfaction.

In March 2020 the UK along with all other countries across the world faced an unprecedented emergency due to Covid-19. Construction sector activity began to decline at the fastest rate since the 2009 financial crisis. This meant sites across the UK were either closing down or dramatically reducing works to only essential tasks. The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) published guidance via the Site Operating Procedures (SOP). The SOP highlighted that site access and egress were key risks owing to prevalence of biometric hand scanners and unreliable card readers. 

The works being carried out at Kings Cross by Morgan Sindall were of critical importance to Network Rail. In fact all rail works were deemed critical to national infrastructure and as such had to continue to ensure the safe operation of rail services.

innDex was born out of the frustrations of two friends, both civil engineers. Having experienced a number of fragmented processes, they put their heads together and started mapping out a better vision for the challenges modern construction delivery brings.

Starting with site inductions, an important first step for all workforce starting on a project. This ties into access control: geo fencing through to physical turnstiles! On top of this, innDex can be used for RAMs, Toolbox talks, progress reporting, inspections, asset management and much more!

The Principal Contractor gets full visibility over their project teams and ensures compliance. All on site activities which are traditionally paper based can be completed through the innDex app - this gives real time project monitoring and a paperless site.

How Readie Construction Limited are saving over £15,000 every week

Problem:
For structural concrete, any error outside of construction tolerances requires an engineering redesign and often involves costly and timely remedial works:

Breaking, cutting, drilling concrete
Reordering structural reinforcement and concrete
Recasting the concrete and allowing for curing times

Scope of Works:
The Main Contractor partnered with XYZ Reality prior to breaking ground, for the construction of their concrete foundations to ensure that they are built correctly (+/- 5mm) and ready for the structural steel columns:

Incorporating The Atom into the project’s Inspection, Testing and Planning process
Inspecting the structures at the lowest value stage - during the setting-out and during the installation of the reinforcement, embedded elements (including holding-down bolts) and formwork

Results:
In all areas where The Atom was deployed, any errors or issues were detected prior to the concrete pour and the concrete foundations were installed within tolerances and without defects.

For the one location where The Atom could not be deployed, the concrete foundation was built 500mm out of tolerance.

However, using The Atom’s real-time validation, this issue was raised immediately and prior to any ground infill and the steel column installation

This project addresses the rapidly evolving needs of the city’s most innovative commercial tenants and the future of work by repositioning all of the building’s public spaces. Boldly current and reflective of complex fabrication techniques, the spaces are now centered on the human experience and are ready to support the city’s meteoric growth as a high-tech hub.

The design elements directly reference motifs found in and around Seattle, from wood ceilings that emulate the motion of wind and waves to a fractal travertine wall inspired by the region’s tectonic activity. They all work in harmony to shape a series of calming spaces for tenants and visitors to work, recharge, and connect.

Advanced technologies, such as VR modeling, were at the core of a design process through which the team developed a highly tactile and emotional experience for the spaces. The fractal wall was computationally designed and engineered, and each of the 1,400 stone pieces used in its construction was optimized.
