HaloConnect at a Glance
HaloConnect is the “glue” for secure collaboration when files move between systems and companies. Instead of relying on a single repository to keep content safe, HaloConnect carries policy with the file—so labels, encryption, and usage rights remain intact as content flows across PLM/PDM, DMS/ECM, on-prem shares, and cloud workspaces.
What It Does (in plain terms)
HaloConnect watches the points where files are exchanged—exports, sync jobs, hand-offs to partners—and applies or preserves protection at the moment of transfer. If a model or document already has a sensitivity label, it keeps it; if not, it can auto-classify and protect based on the project, folder, or rule set you define. The result: a drawing leaving PLM or a package sent to a vendor still carries the rights you intended (view-only, watermark, no print, time-bound access).
Works Across Mixed Stacks
Most engineering environments are hybrid by design. HaloConnect supports multi-CAD and multi-repository setups and keeps a consistent policy language as content moves between tools. Whether the next stop is a shared drive, a client portal, or a cloud folder, the same labels and permissions travel with the file, reducing the “special cases” that create gaps.
Built for Real Collaboration
Partners who aren’t on your stack can still participate through a lightweight, rights-aware experience. They get the access they need—and only that—without IT scrambling to whitelist new locations. If circumstances change (a partner rolls off, a project closes), you can revoke access without tracking down every copy.
Protection is file-centric, so governance doesn’t fall apart at the repository boundary. You can show who accessed what, when, and under which rights, with auditable events that follow the content through its lifecycle. That makes risk reviews and client assurances simpler—and reduces reliance on perimeter rules that don’t always apply once files leave home.
Common Use Cases
-
Supplier exchange: enforce read-only/watermarked packages to fabricators and subs.
-
Client deliverables: ensure final sets carry the correct labels and retention rules.
-
Migrations & consolidations: keep protection intact during moves between systems.
-
Mixed-tool workflows: maintain consistent rights from PLM to project folders to cloud.
Rollout Without the Drama
Policies map to how teams already think—confidential, internal, client deliverable—and admins can start with a few targeted flows (e.g., specific export locations) before expanding. Over time, you get a predictable pattern: same file, same rules, everywhere it goes.
Bottom Line
HaloConnect turns secure exchange into a property of the file, not a hope pinned to where the file happens to live. Engineering keeps moving, partners stay in the loop, and your IP remains protected from first hand-off to final sign-off.
