Key Facts
View key facts for "HaloCAD".
HaloCAD is built for the reality of design and engineering work: CAD files rarely stay inside one company. Models and drawings move to suppliers, fabricators, and clients, and the intellectual property moves with them. Rather than trying to guard that data only at the network edge, HaloCAD embeds protection into the file itself, so access policy and encryption travel wherever the file goes.
The idea is simple but powerful. Sensitivity labels and usage rights—who can open, print, copy, or export—are attached at creation or at the moment a file leaves the authoring environment. If the recipient changes, or a project ends, access can be revoked without chasing down every copy. Because the controls live with the file, governance remains intact across email, shared drives, PLM, and cloud portals.
HaloCAD is designed to work with the tools engineers already use. Teams can keep modeling in Autodesk, Siemens, PTC, and similar ecosystems while the correct label and policy are applied automatically in the background. Partners and vendors who aren’t on the same stack can still participate: a lightweight reader supports secure, read-only access so collaboration doesn’t stall. The goal is to reduce manual steps and remove the “did we lock that export?” worry that leads to accidental leaks.
Supply chains are where risk concentrates, and HaloCAD’s file-centric approach helps close common gaps. It supports mixed CAD and PLM environments—think Teamcenter alongside SolidWorks or Creo, or SAP ECTR with Solid Edge—so the same policy language is enforced across formats and repositories. That consistency matters for compliance programs as well, where organizations need to show not only that sensitive data is identified, but that it remains protected throughout its lifecycle with an auditable trail.
For engineering leadership, the benefits show up in fewer exceptions and clearer accountability. Automatic labeling at the source shortens handoffs between design and IT. Purchasing and program managers gain confidence that vendor packages won’t spill beyond the intended audience. Security teams can point to concrete controls—encryption, rights, and monitoring attached to the file—rather than a patchwork of perimeter rules.
In day-to-day terms, HaloCAD turns “secure sharing” from a process checklist into a property of the CAD asset. Designers keep working in their familiar applications. Partners get only the access they need. And the organization keeps control of its IP—even after the file leaves the building. The result is faster collaboration with far less risk, which is exactly what high-velocity product teams require.
